SAATHII has been selected by AIDS Prevention And Control Project of Voluntary Health Services as the Technical Agency to provide Technical and Mentorship support to 100 private hospitals in establishing ICTC and PPTCT services in Tamil Nadu
Project Period: February 2010 to July 2010
Project Goal:
The project goal is to reduce the incidence of HIV through prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV, and reduce STD and TB related morbidity and mortality in the private health sector in Tamil Nadu
Objectives:
- To increase access to integrated testing and counseling services to antenatal women, general, and high risk populations in the private health sector in Tamil Nadu
- To increase access to comprehensive and quality PPTCT services for positive pregnant women in the private health sector in Tamil Nadu
- To ensure quality counseling and testing, STD and TB treatment to infected and high risk populations in private health sector
Key activities:
1. Initiation/Provision of ICTC/PPTCT services in 100 PPP sites
2. Induction training in ICTC/PPTCT
3. Onsite comprehensive sensitization program for health care teams in private hospitals
4. Supportive Monitoring Visits
5. Mentorship
6. Linkages and referrals for institution-based care continuum services
7. Networking with Positive Networks and PPTCT NGOs and Participation in district level meetings
