Andhra Pradesh Public Private Partnership –PMTCT Program

AP State AIDS Control Society with technical assistance from EGPAF -SAATHII seeks to reduce the current PMTCT coverage gap by expanding ICTC/PMTCT services in the private sector through Public Private Partnership (PPP). The partnership with SAATHII extends comprehensive PMTCT services to pregnant women seeking antenatal care in 91 private hospitals across 15 districts of Andhra Pradesh by integrating these services into existing private sector maternal, newborn and child health programmes.

Project Goal:
The project goal is to provide comprehensive PMTCT services in private sector to reduce the mother to child transmission of HIV
Objectives:
The program in Andhra Pradesh is being implemented with the following objectives:
- To develop and implement a multi-sectoral model involving government and private hospitals in providing care, support and treatment for HIV infected pregnant women and their families
- To increase access to comprehensive PPTCT services in private sector hospitals across 15 districts of Andhra Pradesh, including pre and post test counseling, HIV testing, formal referrals to CST services, ARV prophylaxis, follow up of mother and baby, early infant diagnosis by DBS DNA PCR testing
- To increase the technical capacities, improve skills and practices and reduce stigma among health care providers from private health facilities towards providing quality PPTCT services
- To provide continuum of follow up care services to the HIV positive women and exposed infants identified by the operational hospitals until 18 month after delivery
- To ensure adherence to universal work precautions (UWP) and biomedical waste management protocols across private settings
