Nakshatra, launched in October 2008, is a public-private partnership being implemented in five districts of Tamil Nadu. It aims to involve private sector physicians and hospitals in care of PLHIV and members of core groups seeking treatment for STI.

The project is funded by USAID to APAC/VHS, with SAATHII serving as technical assistance partner. IRT Perundurai Medical College in Erode is involved in facilitating training for doctors and paramedical staff.

The public partner in this initiative is Tamilnadu AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) which is providing STI drugs, post-exposure kits and other supplies for the project.
