Mainstreaming Resource Unit

The Rajasthan mainstreaming project was initiated in late 2007 by the State Mainstreaming Unit of the Rajasthan AIDS Control Society and SAATHII, with support from NACO and UNDP. Mainstreaming strategies included sensitization of departmental and organization heads on the need to consider HIV issues in their domains of work, and advocacy towards pro-PLHIV policies and programs. Jagruti Project

The Jagruti Project was a collaborative endeavor, from 2009 to 2010, between the Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare (WD &CW), and SAATHII to mainstream HIV/AIDS services into the WD&CW Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. SAATHII collaborated with the WD&CW Department and built the capacities of the officials and field level functionaries of the Integrated Child Welfare Scheme (ICDS) and Swadhar Homes for successful mainstreaming of services. The services included the provision of nutrition supplements to HIV affected children and pregnant and lactating mothers; HIV prevention education for adolescent girls; institutional care for HIV affected children; and short-term housing services for women at risk.Read More...


SAMARTH Project

“Strengthen Abilities to Manage And Respond effectively To HIV/AIDS in India” (SAMARTH) was initiated in 2006 with the goal of improving the effectiveness of the response of the government and civil society in the areas of evidence-based HIV policy development and programming in India. The project provided technical assistance under the Indian National AIDS Control Program (NACP-III) and the U.S. Mission to India Five-Year Strategic Plan (2006–2010) for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in mounting a comprehensive response to HIV/AIDS epidemic in India. Principal Recipient Family Health International (now FHI 360) partnered with SAATHII, INP+ and the Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI) on this grant.Read More...
